This is based on the same design as the other one, but upgraded heavily. It sports chain link fence for the containment area. Improved grate door with metal slides. This thing should be impossible to escape from. The overall animal trap is larger then the other one, so raccoons and larger animals can fit into. This has been a fun and experimental build.

Black cat caught in homemade animal trap
This morning I looked out the window and saw some thing black in the trap at first I thought it was a chicken. I went out to get a closer look and realized it was a stray black cat. Not really what i wanted, so I released it.

Homemade live animal trap failed
Well the other morning i went out to check the trap and it was triggered, but the door wasn't shut. hmmm... All the bait had been eaten and is now gone. I started messing around with it and discovered that the rain the night before had caused the wood to swell. Thus pinching the door in the open position. So now its off to the drawing board to design some metal slides and door. That should take care of that issue. So soon to come will be the new and improved homemade live animal trap. When I have the time to get out and make it.

viscous animal
Well I guess this creature didn't want to stay in! Completely tore a hole in the side of the mesh to escape. The next step is that I'm completely rebuilding the trap, I will update it when it's finish.

cat caught in the trap
Well last night before work I went out to check on the trap. Before I walked up to it I noticed bright eyes shining from the light of my flashlight. As I got closer I saw that it was a cat. How disappointing. All though a big stray cat, still not what i was trying to catch. So i released it. There's a big all most all white skunk living under my barn I'm trying to catch. I reset the trap this evening and baited it with bread and peanut butter sprinkled with cat food. Hopefully that will work. I'm open to suggestions on any other bait options. I'll check it in the morning after work and see if there is anything in the trap.

Homemade animal trap
So yesterday I made a live trap, aka "box trap". I am having a possum problem. They eat all the cat food for the cats. It was constructed out of scrap wood i had laying around the garage. I used some steel hardware cloth for the sides and a simple trap door design. I baited it with cat food.
Well this morning after work, (I work 3rds) I went out by the barn to check the trap. It had been set off so that the door was shut. I noticed a lot of chewing and scratching on the inside and the door area. Then soon notice the hole in the wire side where the animal had escaped. Urgh!. I simply repaired and upgraded the box and reset and baited. So hopefully in the morning I will check it and find that pesty critter.
